A clear scribing tape……..what took so long 🙂
This is a great idea that makes positioning a scribing tape along panel lines or other surface details much easier than with tapes that are opaque. Once applied and burnished down, this tape doesn’t move. The material is slick and exhibits very little friction with metal scribers allowing for no resistance during scribing. It can also be trimmed with a sharp blade to make custom scribing stencils and leaves no sticky residue behind when removed.
Here’s the Airfix 1/72 Me-262 with a piece of clear scribing tape positioned along the centerline in preparation for scribing access panel lines on each side of the nose.
Being see-through, positioning of the tape right on the center line of the model was easy. This is also handy when positioning a tape for a line that has to intersect with another line at an exact spot.
The smooth yet rigid tape provides a very solid guide for scribing tools. Note that there is no sticky residue left behind after the tape is removed: awesome stuff 🙂
If you require a thinner tape, check out the 3mm version here.
