All of the UMM scribers are made from hardened tool steel so they stay sharp after many (many) years of use. The UMM 001 scriber has been my go-to tool for re-scribing lines following damage from sanding or filing for more than 10 years.
I love these scribers 🙂
The scriber is designed with two scribing blades on each end of the tool. The blade on on the hooked end is V-shaped, very sharp, and is ideal for scribing lines as the tool is pulled along the surface of the model.
The other end of the scriber also has a V-shaped blade with a tip that can be used to push an inscribed line. This is a very handy for starting a new line or pushing a scribed line into tight areas where the hooked end of the tool won’t fit.
The blade is ideal for many modeling jobs including:
-hollowing out rounded parts
-scribing pilot lines around rounded surfaces
For smaller scales and/or finer lines consider the UMM 002 scriber.
For hard to reach lines or lines that are easier to scribe with a longer blade, consider the UMM 003 Scriber.
